Advisory Board
We periodically look for good
people to help us by becoming Advisory
Board Members. As a member of the Orange County Arts Commission, you
can help fulfill our mission: promoting, coordinating and strengthening
the arts and culture of Orange County.
The Arts Commission has eleven
seats. All Orange County Arts Commissioners must be Orange County residents.
Each Board Member is appointed by the Orange County Board of County Commissioners
to serve a three-year term and is eligible for one additional three-year
term. In selecting Advisory Board Members, the County Commissioners strive
to represent all areas of the county and all population segments. The Arts
Commission meets monthly at open meetings. Meetings start at 7:30 pm.
If you're interested in applying
for an opening on the Arts Commission Advisory Board, you may:
- apply
on the web,
- request an application form from us
or from the Clerk to the Board of Orange County Commissioners (phone 968-4501
or 732-8181 ext. 2125), or
- e-mail Nancy Paciga, Assistant to the County Clerk, at npaciga@co.orange.nc.us.
Committees
We have developed a network
of committees to extend support for the arts in our county. These committees
will consist of Commissioners and community volunteers. They will advise
the Arts Commission about particular issues and help us move in new directions.
We are recruiting for the following committees:
| Arts in Education Committee |
 |
| |
Monitor the health of arts
instruction in public schools, advocate for arts programs and presentations,
and establish connections with groups that bring artists to schools and
develop arts-oriented curriculum.
|
| Professional Artist Services Committee |
 |
|
Explore ways to aide professional
artists in Orange County, develop arts as business and work closely with
the Economic Development
Commission in assessing opportunities concerning arts and small business
and acting on them.
|
| Public Outreach Committee |
 |
|
Highlight the activities
of the Arts Commission and the value of the arts through print and electronic
media, as well as through personal contacts. Advocate for the arts and
for arts funding in North Carolina and Orange County.
